Information for Non-University Employers

The Center for Career Development and Student Employment (CDSE) offers a wide variety of programs and services for community employers. CDSE programs enhance the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) experience by enabling students to develop skills in & out of the classroom, while helping employers meet their staffing needs.

Interview job candidates via webcam

On May 28, 2008 employers from NAVSEA successfully conducted a series of job interviews with student candidates from the University of Hawaii at Manoa via webcam from their offices in California. CDSE plans to allow other employers to conduct interviews over the internet via webcam. Employer Services:

On-Campus Interviews
CDSE is equipped with four private interview rooms for employers interested in interviewing qualified university students and alumni. Services include publicity, resume collection, and interview scheduling. We recommend that interested employers make early reservations.
CDSE Employer Liaison may also assist employers with collecting resumes from interested candidates for prescreening and scheduling interview appointments prior to the interview date. The option to request for prescreening only is also available.

Informational Meetings
In addition to on-campus interview services, we can arrange employer informational sessions where interested candidates can learn about your organization, employment opportunities, training, benefits, etc. These sessions can be arranged independent of, or in conjunction with, on-campus interviews.

Information Tables
If high visibility is of interest to your organization, schedule an Information Table in the lively, informal area known as Campus Center Mall. We can reserve a table for your materials and displays where you can market your organization, and have an open discussion with students.

Meetings with faculty
Along with meetings with students and alumni, we can arrange meeting space and other informal gatherings with faculty. If you prefer, schedule a hosted event such as a breakfast or lunch as part of your opportunity to inform faculty of employment opportunities for students and generate interest in their recruitment activities.

Resource Library
Add to the collection of employer literature to our career Resource Library by sending your organization’s publications such as career recruitment brochures, fact sheets, annual reports, and etc.
